このレバノン出身の映像作家を知ったのは昨年の秋のことです。彼女はすでに同じ年の年明けに亡くなっていたのですが、それを偲んで、毎年リスボンで開かれるドキュメンタリーの国際映画祭、Doclisboa で特集されていたのです。彼女の生まれ育ったベイルートの、1982年の内戦で直後の様子を捉えた『ベイルート、わが街』は、そんな過酷な状況にいながら、何かそれを当事者のものだけのものにおわらせるのではない、不思議な姿勢を湛えていました。これは、近年、社会や歴史の問題に言及しようとするアーティストが陥りがちな、当事者性やにわか知識を方便とした、どこか啓蒙的でもある姿勢を想起するとき、とても示唆に富むものでした。また、今回は上映できませんが、彼女の監督したフィクションの『What’s going on ?』は、まさにとりとめなく、自在に物語や映像が前提とするものを破壊するかのような衝撃的なものでした。また、昨年の年末のイヴェントで上映した『戦争の子供たち』にみられる、純粋な子供たちに染み入ってしまっている戦争という悲惨は、その映像が軽やかであればあるほど、深い印象を与えてくれるものでした

It was last fall when I knew the name of this Lebanese filmmaker. Although she had already passed at the beginning of the same year, in memory of her, Doclisoboa, an international documentary film festival in Lisbon each year, featured her works. "Beyrouth, ma ville'', which captured the state of Beyrouth where she was born and grew up, just after lebanian civil war in 1982, shows posture that it was not just for the person concerned in spite of such a severe situation, so I felt it mysterious attitude. Although artists trying to address social and historical issues often show themselves of some sort of enlightening attitude by being person concerned suddenly or showing off superficial knowledge, in comparison that, her attitude is so inspiring.Also, although not available this time screening, her fiction film, "What's going on?", was so shocking with its seeming randomness, that is, which destructs of what the story and the video presuppose.
And, the misery of war that has penetrated the pure children, shown in "Les Enfants de la guerre" which was shown at the event at the end of last year, gave me the deeper impression the more bright its surface.

Foi no outono passado quando eu soube o nome desse cineasta libanês. Embora já tivesse falecido no início do mesmo ano, por sua memória, Doclisoboa, um festival internacional de documentários em Lisboa todos os anos, apresentava seus trabalhos. "Beyrouth, ma ville '', que capturou o estado de Beyrouth onde ela nasceu e cresceu, logo após a guerra civil da Líbia em 1982, mostra uma postura de que não era apenas para a pessoa em causa, apesar de uma situação tão grave, então Senti uma atitude misteriosa.Embora os artistas que tentam abordar questões sociais e históricas geralmente se mostrem com algum tipo de atitude esclarecedora por estarem preocupados com uma pessoa de repente ou demonstrarem conhecimento superficial, em comparação, sua atitude é muito inspiradora. desta vez, seu filme de ficção, "O que está acontecendo?", foi tão chocante com sua aparente aleatoriedade, isto é, que destrói o que a história e o vídeo pressupõem.E a miséria da guerra que penetrou nas crianças puras, mostrada em "Les Enfants de la guerre", exibida no evento no final do ano passado, me deu uma impressão mais profunda quanto mais brilhante sua superfície.
